From the lectures at Cambridge Adult Center. While the lecturers read, demonstrated and sang, I doodled them.

My favorite doodle

I make a doodle of this lady all the time, but can't seem to make an art piece around her.

I Love Ludwig

Not only is "Madeline" a wonderful children's book, the author was a wonderful painter.
He was brought up in the hotel service world and even owned a small restaurant for a while.
At one time he was going to collaborate on a children's book with Jacqueline Onassis. Alas, it never came to be.

Here are a few of my sketchbook paintings in the style of Ludwig Bemelmans.

Three Surrealists

Here are three Surrealists whose work I love:

Remedios Varo

Dorothea Tanning

Leonora Carrington

Carrington and Tanning are the last of the old Surrealists, and are still alive in their nineties.

They are both tied to Max Ernst; Carrington was his lover and Tanning was his wife.

Give them a try, especially Varos, who is amazing.

Studio

I'm having a little trouble getting image and text together. The studio below originally was a drawing of Frank Auerbach's studio in London and I liked it so much I changed it around and made it My Place in my head. I figured that a sink would be to the right of the fridg and shelves, with a bathroom in back, off the hall. The rest of the room would have easels, bookcases and space to throw paint around. These are fun pretend games I do all the time.
