William Gropper - Cartoonist, painter, lithographer, muralist and radical.

A favorite book.  One of the first graphic novels by William Gropper 1897-1977.  My copy is old and falling apart, but its signed.

JULIAN LEVI - 1900-1982

Julian taught at the Art Students League and at the New School for years.  I posed for him at The New School and for some private classes.  Somewhere there is a portrait of me done by him and sold to a private collector.  He was a good friend of my fathers, along with Kuniyoshi.  When we lived on Perry Street, he lived around the corner on 4th Street near 11th.  A lovely guy.

Aline was a friend of my fathers.  She is pretty much forgotten now, but she did wonderful caricatures. lithographs and wood cuts.
